Effect of sulphur on micronutrient availability of Semirom golden apple trees
2010
Solhi, Mahmoud
To study the effect of sulphur on micronutrient availability of Semirom golden apple trees, a factorial experiment was conducted in Semirom area . The treatments were 4 levels of sulphur and 2 levels of animal manure and each plot contain 3 apple trees including 72 trees. The amount of organic carbon, P, K, Fe, Zn, Cu, Mn in the treated soil with 4 or 6 kilogram sulphur with 40 kilogram green manure in topsoil(0-30) was significantly(5 percent) more than the treatments which received 0 and 2 kilogram sulphur. The concentration of N, P, Ca and Mg in apple leaf and fruit in the treatments containing 4 and 6 kilogram sulphur with 40 kilogram green manure was significantly more than the treatments that received 0 and 2 kilogram sulphur. Micronutrients including Fe, Zn, Mn and Cu also showed the same trend. It is recommended to farmers to consume 4 to 6 kg of micronized sulphur with 40 kilogram animal manure per each tree at the end of winter or start of spring.
