In order to determine the most suitable number of primary samples of wheat, barley and maize seed, a survey was conducted in three provinces (Tehran, Isfahan and Khorasan). Seed sampling was carried out from different wheat cultivars (Khorasan), barley (Isfahan) and hybrid maize seed clv. KSC704 with 30, 40, 50, 60, 70 and 80 primary sample from each seed lot. Composite samples of each group of primary samples, was tested from different qualitative characteristics. Physical purity including pure seed, number of weed and other crop seed and broken seed, as well as standard germination test with all related characters were conducted for all samples. The results from statistical analysis show; there aren't any significant differences between qualitative characteristics of each group of primary seed samples which were tested in the laboratory. Referring to the results and economical requirements of seed sampling procedure, it can be recommended for sampling of wheat, barley and maize seed lots, samplers can sample 30 primary samples from each complete lots without any decrease in the quality of sampling.
