For the purposes of research, black-and-white Holstein black and white cows were selected and divided into two groups (n = 21) according to the analogy principle. The cows were in the 2nd-3rd lactation, yielding 25 kg of milk per day with a fat content of 4.2% and protein content of 3.5%. During the research, milk composition according to its fat, protein and lactose content was similar for cows of both groups. Fat and protein content tended to increase with the decrease in milk yield during lactation, whereas the content of lactose in milk changed only slightly. The research showed the favourable influence of feed additive „Penergetic – T” (mastitis) on the decrease of somatic cell count in milk: somatic cell count decreased almost by half (by 45.4%) in trial group cows.
