Three land races of green leafy vegetables (GLV) locally viz. Shalkhay (Rumex crispus), Pishtaray (Medicago denticulata) and Ziargul (Taraxicum officinale) collected from village Palosi Maghdarzai, Peshawar were analyzed for their proximate composition, mineral constituents and Vitamin C content. The tested leafy vegetables contained 1.82 to 5.99% crude protein, 0.136 to 0.303% crude fat, 0.946 to 3.11% crude fiber, 1.33 to 2.89% ash, and 2.43 to 8.07% NFE on dry matter bases. Vitamin C content, and P and K ranged from 0.030 to 0.160 % and 340 to 590 mg 100-1g, respectively. The micro minerals (Cr, Cd, Pb, Ni, Se, Mn, Cu, Mg, Zn, Fe, Na and Ca) content varied from 0.02 -160 mg 100-1g. The nutritional content suggests that wild vegetables may be included in the dietary schedule to alleviate the nutritional deficiency of the local household in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan.
