One of the limiting factors for successful and stable wheat production is presence of the plant pathogen Puccinia triticina, the causal agent of leaf rust. During 2006 and 2007, at the location Leposavić, resistance of 20 recently developed Serbian winter wheat cultivars to this pathogen was investigated in the conditions of natural infection. The obtained results showed that the average severity of infection in 2006 was12.5%, while in 2007 it was 7.5%. The most resistant cultivars in both years of investigation were Takovčanka, Matica and Rana Niska. Severity of infection in the most susceptible cultivar Ana Morava reached the value of 40% in 2006, but it was two times lower (20%) in 2007.
