The most commonly implemented portfolio investments, loans and long-term loans and foreign direct investment (hereafter FDI). FDI as a factor of increasing economic growth and are one of the possible solutions for the economy, regional disparities in Slovakia after the EU accession. The positive impact of FDI, which tends most economists, it is possible to document the economic growth and increasing GDP in regions where it is implemented (in Slovakia for example Žilina and Trnava regions). In contrast, for example Prešov region with the lowest FDI inflows, reaching the lowest GDP in Slovakia. Development of FDI inflow in Slovakia has a growing trend, but their overall condition and volume compared with other countries is comparatively low and insufficient. Regional and sector distribution of FDI in Slovakia is significantly deficient and focused only in areas with developed infrastructure, and not where they are needed.
