An alternative to conventional technique of fertilization for winter rape is the method CULTAN. The CULTAN method (Controlled Uptake Long Term Ammonium Nutrition), enables the required nitrogen in the vegetation period to be applied in one application. The influence of this method on yield and yield parameters of winter rape crop was observed during three years at two different sites in the Czech Republic. The experiment was composed from conventional variant where fertilizer was applied during the vegetation in three doses on soil surface and variation CULTAN where fertilizer was injected into soil once during the vegetation. The total dose of nitrogen was 200 kg per ha N at each variant. The three-year average yield of CULTAN variant at site Hnevceves was 5.85 t per ha and the yield of conventional variant was 5.72 t per ha. A yield of CULTAN variant for the same period at site Humpolec was 4.81 t per ha and the yield of conventional variant was 4.98 t per ha. These differences were not statistically significant. Reduced length of CULTAN plants was observed at site Hnevceves. There were not observed differences between the dry matter content in the aboveground biomass, weight of thousand grain, nitrogen content in aboveground dry matter and content of nitrogen in seeds.
