Attitude of agricultural extension workers toward integrated farming system in Yogyakarta, Indonesia

Objectives of this study were to: Describe personal characteristics of Agricultural Extension Workers (AEW), determine access of information channel, and examine attitude of AEW towards Integrated Farming System (IFS) and compare attitudes AEW towards IFS with different personal characteristics and working area. The total of 184 AEW in Sleman and Bantul located in Yogyakarta Province, Indonesia served as respondents of this study. Data were collected and presented through frequency, percentage and means, t-test and F-test were employed to test hypotheses. Finding showed that respondents had positive attitude towards IFS and most of them accessed newspaper and agricultural magazine rather than journal of agricultural research and internet. Hypotheses testing revealed that, there was not significantly different attitude toward IFS from respondents with different gender, age, educational background, household member, and working experience (p GT 0.05), whereas the respondents with different working location area (Sleman and Bantul) and income per month (lower, medium, and higher level) had significantly different attitude toward IFS (p LT 0.05).
