Sex ratio and length-weight relationship of commercial octopus around the upper gulf of Thailand

Specimens of octopus were collected from fishing piers in the Upper Gulf of Thailand in the area of Chon Buri, Chachoeng Sao, Samut Prakan, Phetcha Buri and Prachuap Khiri Khan Provinces. The specimens of octopus could be identified into 3 species as, Cistopus indicus, Octopus aegina and Octopus membranaceus. All year round average sex ratio of Cistopus indicus and Octopus membranaceus was 1:1 while O. aegina was 1:0.74. The mantle length-weight relationship of male C.indicus was W=1*10**(-4) ML sup(3.1495) (r sup(2)=0.755, n=471), female of C.indicus was W=1*10**(-4) ML sup(3.1213) (r sup(2)=0.814, n=371), male of O.aegina was W=2.2*10**(-3) ML sup(2.4169) (r sup(2)=0.775, n=949), female of O.aegina was W=3*10**(-3) ML sup(2.3362) (r sup(2)=0.865, n=699), male of O.membranaceus was W=2.2*10**(-3) ML sup(2.368) (r sup(2)=0.846, n=48) and female of O.membranaceus was W=5*10**(-4) ML sup(2.722) (r sup(2)=0.843, n=60).
