One of the proven ways to fast economic growth is the use of technical achievements of the worlds leading manufacturers, thereby minimize the physical and financial costs for developing, testing and implementation of similar in purpose products. The paper presents a methodology which enables on the base of worldwide experience in manufacturing of tractors to assess power qualities of the tractor engine mounted on a tractor in operation and, if necessary, to choose one that can ensure effective use of the tractor in the agriculture. An example of the application of the methodology in respect of wheeled tractor Bolgar TK-80, basic modification of the Bulgarian family tractors of medium power Bolgar, is shown too.
