Application of special high-quality equipment, providing development of perspective innovative technologies, appears one of the most important factors of guaranteeing of high level of competitiveness of agricultural enterprises. The article presents a comparative analysis of economic efficiency of modern national and foreign self-propelled forage harvesters in accordance with the results of their operation in the regions of the Republic. The variation of annual load indices as well as operating time, fuel consumption and prime cost of mechanized operations are estimated according to the results of a harvesting campaign. Formulation of a distinct strategy of formation of technical potential of the branch, based on calculations of equipment structure, is suggested. Economic efficiency of application of calculated data, connected with equipment technological characteristics, is substantiated.
