In the conditions of the Republic of Belarus in 2008-2010 there was analysed the influence of optimization of age of seedlings on productivity of fruits of watermelon and melon (Cucumis melo). The objects of studied were early-season hybrids Romanza F1 for watermelon and Mastrio F1 for melon. Research results proved that transplant seedling age rendered substantial influence on the processes of growth and development of plants. It was revealed that in the process of growing the largest watermelon fruit yield (32.2 ton / ha) was obtained in case of using of transplant seedlings at the age of 25 days. That provided the development of the largest area of assimilative apparatus of 1.76 square meters. Yield increase was 16.7%. For melon the optimal age of transplant seedlings was 30 days, which provided the highest yield of fruits (14.61/ha). The yield increase was 17.7%.
