The evolution of the conceptual approaches to logistics was investigated, the historical examples of its application were given, the features of the logistics development in different periods were reflected. Particular attention was paid to the merchandise management systems: specific features of the operation and requirements for the application of various systems that were cost-effectiveness of their application. At the present stage of development activity in the field of logistics is many-sided. It includes logistics of productions, distributive, purchasing, information, transport, etc. Each of the listed spheres of economy sufficiently is studied and for a long time is used in practical activities. Therefore the logistics also is not a phenomenon, absolutely new wonderful invention which application helps to solve all economic problems. The logistics is, first of all, the business concept which is based on the systematized method of involving of separate interconnected elements in uniform integrated process. Logistics - a youngish science both in economically developed countries, and in Belarus. For realization of effective application of logistics in republic economy it is necessary to consider specificity of its development, available experience and features of national economy.
