The problem of increasing of meat production, especially beef, and improvement of its quality along with self-cost decline appears one of the most essential problems of agroindustrial complex of the Republic of Belarus, specializing on dairy industry and possessing low number of meat-producing enterprises. Development of specialized meat-producing branch allows solving the problem. Hereford breed appears one of the most perspective breeds for veal and beef production, characterized with early maturation, good constitution and high level of adaptability in any climatic conditions. The main goal of the research appears investigation of the peculiarities of growth of black-and-white calves, Hereford ones and their hybrids along with analyzing of their meat productivity and growth efficiency. The results of the studying of meat productivity and efficiency of rearing of bull-calves of the Hereford breed and its hybrids with the black-and-white one show that calves of meat genotypes surpass their black-and-white mates in respect of body weight, daily average gain, slaughter indexes and leather quality. At the same time the consumption of feed required for products formation is lower.
