In a field test of sugar beet, the influence of variety and preparations containing bioactive substances on root yield, sugar content and polarized sugar yield was monitored. The field test was carried out in 2011 and 2012 at EBA SPU in Nitra _ Dolna Malanta. The test monitored four sugar beet varieties (Jambus, Tilman, Antek and Fred) and two bio preparations, Biafit Gold and Ligno Super NPK. Out of the monitored sugar beet varieties, Fred variety achieved the best production parameters. The differences in both the parameters compared to the remaining varieties were mostly inconclusive. The highest sugar content was found in Tilman variety; the difference in sugar content was - compared to Jambus and Antek varieties - statistically conclusive. Biopreparations increased root yield as well as polarized sugar yield; their influence on sugar content was minimal.
