Awareness of protecting food environment from contamination in rural and urban at sharkia governorate-Egypt

This study was conducted to detect the level of cognitive awareness of women of household in rural and urban by the importance of protecting food environment from contamination during preparation, cooking and presentation and its relationship with some social and economic factors of the household. The selected sample object- psoriasis was 260 women of household from rural and urban of Sharkia Governorate, related to different social and economical levels. The search was compraised the form the family initial data and a questionnaire to measure the degree of awareness of food environmental protection from contamination. The results showed that: The degree of awareness of the women of households in rural and urban with protection food environment from contamination was generally declined. In this respect, the women of households in urban were surpased (43.8%0) againest (24.6%) for those from rural. Statistically positive correlation were found between the level of awareness with protection of food environment from contamination for women of households and most independent variables in this study such as (Wife's age- here education, profession, income-husband education-marriage longevity-family size -mony spent on purchase of food or disinfectants- sources of information). Statistical differences were found in the level of awareness of protection the food environment from contamination according to the location at which the family live as follows: In rural: Statistical differences were found at significance level (0.01) for either (husband education-marriage longevity-family size) and at significance level of (0.05) for either, Wife's age -husbandd age -husband education -wife's income - mony spent on purchase of disinfectants or sources of information. In urban: Statistical differences were found at significance level (0.01) with husband income and at significance level of (0.05) with either,(wife's age -husband education -wife's profession -marriage longevity -the mony spent on Purchase of food or disinfectants or exposure to sources of information). The most important recommendations of the research: Interest of the media of AL. informations with providing different guidance and educational programs to instill a health practices regarding the protection of food environment from pollution.
