Gibberellin A3 (GA3) is a plant growth hormone identified in different plants and is used in agriculture to accelerate the growth of fruits and vegetables. The present work studied the effect of gibberellin A3 on the histological pattern of the ovotestis of the slug Agriolimax reticulates . Injecting slugs with GA3 at a dose level of 5 ppm, once per week for 4 weeks induced a significant increase in the diameter of the acini , especially after the fourth week. Histological and quantitative results revealed a significant increase in the number of spermatogenic cells in ovotestes of treated slugs. The number of sperm patche was significantly increased after the third and fourth week of treatment. GA3 was also found to affect oogenesis. The number of early oocytes increased significantly after the 3rd week of treatment while the number of late oocytes showed significant increased after the 4th week. These results proved that gibberilin A3 affected gametogenesis in the slug Agriolimax reticulates.
