The character « isomature » was found to be determined essentially by one dominant gene, generally with incomplete penetrance (in a genetically fixed line, only some plants exhibited the character). Other dominant genes seemed to act complementarily for its expression. Penetrance of the character varied from year to year. It would be possible to use isomature F1 hybrids if one of the parental lines were isomature, but the farmer will rarely observe 100 % of isomature plants in his field.

Le caractère isomature est déterminé essentiellement par un gène dominant, avec pénétrance généralement incomplète : dans une lignée fixée génétiquement, toutes les plantes ne manifestent pas le caractère. Il semble que d’autres gènes dominants agissent d’une façon complémentaire pour son expression. La pénétrance du caractère varie selon les années.
