This experiment was conducted in 2011 in the locations of Dezful and MoGHAN, I.R.Iran , to evaluate the bolting resistance characteristics and to Compare the qualitative and quantitative traits of domestic and foreign cultivars of sugar beet. The experimental design was a randomized complete block design (two experiments with 16 cultivars) with 4 replicates. 27 foreign cultivars along with 3 domestic monogerm hybrid cultivars were compaired. Resuts showed that there were significant differences in root yield, sugar yield, purity and K,Na,N impurities, bolting resistance, sugar content and white sugar content. Results of experiment 233989 in Dezful showed that the cultivar Antek, with 16.57 t/ha had the highest and the cultivar 9597(susceptible control) with 8.41 t/ha had the lowest white sugar yield. The Cultivars Antek, Azaba, and Vico with 16.57, 15.61 and 15.25 t/ha white sugar yield respectively were the top cultivars. Significant difference was observed for bolting resistance among the cultivars. Mean percent of bolting was 2.78%.The cultivar 9597 with 39.21 percent bolting had the highest bolting percentage. The cultivars Rasoul, SBSI 001 and ST12038 had the bolting percentage of 4.13, 2.36 and 0.27 percent respectively and other cultivars without bolting symotoms were found to be resistant to bolting. Results of experiment 2333889 in Dezful also showed that the cultivar Spartak, with 17.25 t/ha had the highest and the cultivar 9597 with 7.80 t/ha had the lowest white sugar yield. The cultivars Spartak and Hi0541 with 17.25 and 15.68 t/ha white sugar yield respectively were the top cultivars. Significant difference was observed for bolting resistance among the cultivars. Mean percent of bolting was 4.27%. The cultivar 9597 with 56.33 percent bolting had the highest bolting percentage. The cultivars Veles and Rasoul had bolting percentage of 4.73 and 4.78 percent, and other cultivars without bolting symotoms were classified as resistant to bolting cultivars. In MOGHAN experiment, because of bolting percent severity of all genotypes tested, the data were not concluded.
