The main purpose of this study was to achieve high yielding genotypes with high quality seed for use in spaghetti production industries. The selected genotypes should be superior to existing cultivars in different environmental conditions, and also have desirable agronomic traits and quality characteristics, tolerance to environmental stresses such as drought and end of season heat stress and disease resistance are common area. The 116 selected durum wheat genotypes from 32DON-MD, 41IDSN were evaluated as PRDYT in Gachsaran, Gonbad, and Moghan Agricultural Research Stations. During the growth period from various agronomic and morpho-physiologic traits of genotypes such as date and percentage of green, growth power, plant height, days to heading and maturity, reaction to important diseases and the like were note. Finally, the 48 genotypes with higher yield and desirable agronomic traits than checks (Dehdasht and Seimareh) were selected for further studies in the Advanced Durum yield trial.
