Evaluation of grass pea germplasm inorder to selection of suitable lines in dryland conditions

Grass pea international materials including GIYT-HY-10, GIYT-E-10 and GIYT-LO-10 received from International Center for Agricultural Research in Dry Areas (ICARDA) were evaluated as simple lattice at main station of dryland agricultural research institute during 2009-2010. Trials were planted in spring and some characteristics including grain and biomass yield were studied. There was highly significant difference between lines regarding biomass yield and some other characteristics in all trials. However, the highest grain and biomass yield was belonged to local check and there was no superior new line within nurseries in spring planting. It was concluded that the performance of grass pea as spring crop was very low in spite of the plenty precipitation during 2009-2010.
