Investigation and Determination of the Best Plant Density and Planting Date of Ghassri Melon

In order to determining the best planting date and distance between plants(density) in melon , a split plot design was conducted for two years based on Randomized Complete Block Design with three replications in Khorasan Razavi Agricultural and Natural Resourses Research Center. Main plots were 4 planting dates including 9 May,25 April ,10 May and 26 May. Sub plots were distances between plants including 60 ,70 , 80 and 90 cm. Traits under study were fruit yield, number of fruits in plant , average of fruit weight and fruit suger percent. Combined analysis for two years data showed that planting date and distance between plants had significant effects on fruit yield and number of fruit in plant.Effects of treatments were not significant on fruit sugar percent. Highest fruit yield (26.144 t/ha) accured in plantnig date of 25 April and 60 cm between plants and lowest accured in 25 May and 90 cm (19.625 t/ha).
