To investigate the effect of saline sprinkler water on alfalfa yield and determination of the salinity threshold value an experiment was conducted applying four water qualities of 2.1\} 3.2, 4.4 and 5.4 dS/m in a complete randomized block design in four replicates . The soil was silty clay loam, on the Zayandehroud River old flood plain, in east of Isfahan City, Iran. The results of three year study shows that water quality treatments up to 4 dS/m containing 20 meq/1 C\\ "and 30 meq/1 Na+, did not caused any leaf burn, and may be recommended for sprinkler irrigation. The greatest leaf burn, hay C\\, B, and Na content were observed during the hottest and driest summer months. Increasing irrigation water salinity from 2.1 to 5.4 dS/m decreased the hay yield by 11 %.
