Effects of sowing date and seeding rate on grain yield of new bread wheat cultivars.
1999
Safaei Hakimi, Nasim
This two year experiment carried out at Karaj experimental farm to determine the best sowing date and seeding rate in two bread wheat genotypes of M-73-4 and M-73-18 selected for the moderate cold climates in Iran using RCBD in strip plot arrangement. The horizontal and vertical factors were a factorial combination of the genotype with seeding rate and sowing date, respectively. The length and width of the plots were 12 and 2.4 meters and harvest area was 24 m2. The combined anova made on the studied traits data were grain and biological yield, harvest index, thousand grain weight (TGW) and number of fertile tillers. Results showed significant differences between the years on number of fertile tillers. Sowing dates had significant effects on grain and biological yield, harvest index, TGW and number of fertile tillers. The horizontal factor significantly affected grain yield, TGW and number of fertile tillers and combined effect of the factors had a significant effect on biological yield and number of fertile tillers (P0.05).
