New urea-based fertilizers for higher efficiency
1994
Koole, D.
Urea is a common fertilizer in the (sub) tropics.Generally, its efficiency is rather low,but can be improved in a number of ways.To achieve higher efficiency, urea can be upgraded by increasing the granular size and by adding other nutrients.fertilizers to urea.A few examples have been highlighted, namely (i)LGU-Large Granular Urea (6-8mm),which is particularly superior to common urea when used on irrigated rice,(ii) urea+boron, a granulated fertilizer for use on boron deficient crops, where boron can also make urea more efficient by depressing NH3-volatilization and (iv) UREAS a combination of nitrogen and sulphur, based on urea and ammonium sulphate and can be very efficient.
