Preliminary yield test of international Chitti bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) lines

This study is conducted for selection the best beans in Bean Research Station of Khomein. 88 Lines with three checks including local Khomein, Sadri cultivar and COS16 line were evaluated by diagramming method. Each line was planted in two rows of two meters lenght so that the distance between rows was 50 cm and between plants within the row was 10 cm. In addition of yield, another traits including the number of days from sowing to flowering, number of days from sowing to maturity, plant height, type of plant, 100 seed weight, and the seed marketing was measured. Based on yield, results showed that 6 lines were better than all three checks. 18 lines with type 1 showed superior to COS16. Based on yield and marketing lines number 60 and 33 were the best lines. Line 33 is suitable for the climatic conditions of Iran. Because the mentioned test lines were without replication, for has been investigators more accurately 9Line have shown the superiority of than control Sadri cultivar, the experiments are repeated in future years.
