Evaluation of compability of Brassica napus cultivars and determination of the best planting date in Zarghan.

Rapeseed ( Brassica napus L.) is the most important oil crop among Brassica Spp. It is also the third oil crop after soybean and palm. In order to study the effects of planting date on agronomic traits, yield and yield components of four rapese~d cultivars,an experiment was conducted in Zarghan research station at 2000-2002 .Experimental design was split-plot based on randomized compelet block design (RCBD),with four replications. Main-plots consisted of three Planting dates ( Sep.21 , Oct.2 and Oct.12) and sub-plots consisted of four cultivars (Okapi ,Talaye,Orient and Colvert). Some agronomic traits in different plant growth stages,yield and yield components were recorded. Data were analyzed and means were compared by duncans multiple range test. Results showed that the effect of planting date on required days to flowering, end of flowering, flowering duration, plant maturity , height and grain yield was significant (P=O.OI) . However its effects on other traits were not significant. The h.eighest yield (3358 kglha ) was obtained for Planting date on Oct. 2 The effect of cultivars on required days to flowering ,end of flowering , duration of flowering , plant height, number of pods per plant, 1 000 seeds weight and grain yield (p= 0.01) and on number of pods per mainstem and days to maturity (p= 0.05) was signjficant. Orient cultivar with 3491 kg/ha had the heighest yield. Planting date and cultivars interaction effect was not significant on meassured traits. However Orient cultivar on 2 Oct. with 3750 kglha produced more yield than the others. Keywords:Rapeseed, planting date, cultivar, agronomic trait, yield, yield components
