The Green gram (Vigna radiate (L.) Wilczek) is a food legume that is valuable for high content of proteins in seed. Because of the importance of conservation of genetic resources of landraces, A series of field mission were undertaken to explore and collect green gram landraces in the provinces that its cultivation was reported . The number 100 accessions were collected. Preliminary evaluation on collected germplasm revealed that collections were mostly carried out in Lorestan, West Azarbaijan and Kerman respectively. A majority of collection sits, that is 62 of them, were located below the geographical coordinates of 49 degrees northward. From a climatological point of view, the samples were mostly collected from a warm Mediterranean climate (33 samples) and a warm and dry Mediterranean climate. Among the quantitative traits the number of seeds in plant showed the highest phenotype variance coefficient of variation (CV = 53/18). The highest number of phenotype classes(four groups) for seed shape and color was observaed and this was confirmed by applying Shannon Index. The accessions using quantitative traits were categorized in 6 groups based on Cluster Analysis. In studying the direct selection for seed yield or indirect selection in terms of other important cultivation traits, ten promising genotypes were selected according to the combination of weight specifications of 1000 seeds, marketability, the number of pods per plant and the number of seeds per pod in Agricultural & Natural Resources Research Center located in Safi Abad in Dezful, in north of Khuzestan Province.
