Effect of Sequestrine iron and zinc sulfate on yield and drying young cotton boll

In Darab region immature boll dryness in different varieties of cotton is responsible for yield reduction every year. Amoung the factors that affects this phenomenon, micronutrients have recived a little attention. In this way our research accomplished to eveluate the effect of zinc sulfate and Fe-EDDHA on yield and ball dryness in two varieties of cotton. The expriment was a 3x2x2 factorial in a complete randomized block design with three replicates. Treatments consisted of three rates of zinc (0, 20 and 40 Kg zinc sulfate per hectare), Three iron levels (0,2.5 and 5 Kg Fe-EDDHA in hectare) and two varietis of cotton (oultan and Bakhtegan). At the end of expriment, cotton yield, number of dried balls, and concentrations of Fe, Zn, Mn and Cu were regarded as plant responses.Results of present study showed that none of treatments except variety had no significant effects on the cotton yield and ball dryness. This was probably due to ball dryness dependence to genetic factors rather than to environmental factors. However, variety had no significant effects on micronutrient concentrations but increasing in iron levels decreased plant zinc concentration. This shows that micronutrient concentration are so related to each other.
