The effects of irrigation water quality on the yield and quality of Falat and Darab 2 wheat cultivars and soil properties.

Salinity of irrigation water is one of the main problems in the arid regoins of Iran, especially in Hormozgan province.The effects of irrigation water quality on the quality and quantity of two main wheat cultivars( Falat and Darab-2) was studied. A factorial experiment Randomized complete Block Design with 3 salinity levels of irrigation water (4.3, 7.8, 10.1 dS/m) and two wheat cultivars (Falat, Darab-2) was conducted with three replications.The statistical analysis of the results showed significant differences between salinity and cultivars. The best interaction was observed between EC= 4.3 ds/m and Darab-2 cultivar. Generally, Darab- 2 cultivars showed better yield performance than Falat, under salinity levels used in this study.
