Noghi scale, Salicicola davatchi is one of the pistachio pests that feeds from tree sap and causes serious damage. Scales could reduce quantity and quality of pistachio nuts as well as a negative impact on pistachio tree to be susceptible to other pests and diseases. In present study, the biology of Noghi scale was determined in commercial pistachio orchards in Rafsanjan. Sampling was carried out from twig 2 times per week from early March. The results showed that the Noghi scale in more cases located on baranches of pistachio trees especially annual branches. But in some cases, some Noghi scales observed on pistachio leaves and fruits. The motion of noghi nymphs were slow and often. The new nymphs that hatched from eggs stay under mother s body therefore in most cases, shields of Noghi scale are found in some piles on branches. This scale has one successful generation per year with two nymphal stages. The second nymphal stage is the hibernating stage. The males adult scale appear on pistachio branches from eraly spring. About 7 to 10 days later, the eggs had been formed under female s shield and after a month, the nymphs appeared on branches. In this study appearance time of nymphs was early May and its peak was during 5th to 20th of May. The first and second nymphal stages were formed at early in the second decade of May and end of the lately Jun respectively. These data are varying due to environmental temperature change.
