Study of Segregation Populations in Rice (F1BC1 and F4 generations).
2006
Bagheri, Mohamad mehdi
In this study 802 F4 rice lines and 26 hybrid populations of first back cross ( F1BC1) were evaluated. The research target, was to detect and selection the genotypes with good morphological and agronomical traits, such as plant height and plant architecture, high yield ,grian shutering tolerance , early maturing, suitable grain shape and acceptable aroma content. Seeds of all genetic materials were sown in nursery on may 2003 . F4 lines were transplanted on July 2003 in four rows with 2.5m.length and 20 * 20 cm. spacing, F1BC1 populations, due to their seed volume, in 4 to 8 rows with 2m. length and same density as F4 lines. In both generations transplanting were done as single palnt per hill. Preliminary selection were done through periodical field observations in different growth periods specially at tillering and anthesis. , The final selection was done at grain filling stage and physiological ripening and 461 lines were selected on the basis of research targets. Seeds of 26 backcross populations were harvested seperately in order to evaluate them in F2BC1 generation. Key words: Rice, segregting populations, backcross, morphological trials F4, F1BC1
