Genus Stenus (Coleoptera: Staphylinidae) was selected for the biogeographical study on beetles of Iran. Due to environmental characteristics and preferences, these beetles can be a good model for the study of biogeography of these incests. All members of this genus are predators, and although they are terrestrial, they are highly dependent to aquatic ecosystems and humid areas. The members of this subfamily are Boreal relicts and widely distributed in the Palaearctic region. In the present study thousands of specimens have been collected and identified and preserved in Hayk Mirzayans Insect Museum (HMIM) of Iranian Research Institute of Plant Protection. The species were confirmed by Dr. Volker Puthz, Schlitz, Germany. The result gives distributional pattern of 43 Stenus species which includes one new species for science. Key Words: Fauna, Staphylinidae, Stenus, Biogeography, Iran
