Ethyl 4-isothiocyanatobutyrate as an attractant compound has been reported to capture Nysius niger adults in canola field, and also, Nysius cymoides considering as an important pest in canola fields in Iran. The synthesis of this isothiocyanate compound can be useful as an efficient method for controlling of this pest. Ethyl 4-isothiocyanatobutyrate was synthesized via two-step reaction sequences from starting material of 4-aminobutyric acid. First this acid with exposure to HCl gas and in ethanol gave an ester, and followed the treatment of this ester with 1,1`-thiocarbonyldiimidazole which gave rise the corresponding isothiocyanate. This ethyl isothiocyanateester accompany by an antioxidant of hydroxytoluene in septum traps will be used for attracting of adult insect in canola field
