Evaluation of IRRI,S rice lines in yield trial.

Good quality rice varieties is very important for customers especial recently. To carry out yield trial, 34 selected rice lines from IRRI,s rice lines in preliminary yield trial and 2 varieties as check (Hashemi and Binam in Guilan province-fajr and Neda in Mazandaran province), totally 36 genotypes were evaluated in a triple lattice Design in Rice Research institute of Iran (Rasht and Amol) in 2004 . Important characters including grain yield(kg/ha) , plant height (cm), number of panicle,100 grain weight (gr), days to 50% flowering (day), maturity date (day), amylose content (%), gel consistency (%) and gelatinazation temperature were measured based on rice descriptor. Analysis of datas were conducted. Finally , 8 rice cultivars for Guilan province and 7 rice cultivars for Mazandaran province were selected based on important quality and quantity characters. These selected rice cultivars will be evaluated in advanced experiments during following years. Yield of the selected cultivars ranged from 5.5-7 t/ha and these cultivars were suitable for some traits such as plant height (108-137 cm), cooking characteristics , milling percent and resistance to blast disease. Therefore, these cultivars were selected shuch as promissing lines.
