Vegetation Types of Ferdows Area.

This study include a general survey of plant vegetation of an area about 1509065 ha belong to a topographical map (scale of 1/250000) with number N140-7 of ferdows which is located in south of khorasan.In this survey, plant vegetation types and land use systems were determined, by physiognomic method. The three dominant species were considered as vegetation type. The base maps were topographical maps with scale of 1/50000 in which the information of vegetation types were recorded in to them. These maps exchanged to 1/250000 maps by photography for preperation of vegetation map. The other information such as climate, soil and land use, geology and land slop were obtained from available resources. In general, the vegetation types cover 1106657 ha (73.3%) agricultural lands 64171 ha (4.25% ),bare lands 317375 ha (21%) and rocks about 120861 ha (1.36%). In the study area, 40 vegetation types were recognized and classified into 6 plant vegetation groups namely Arrtemisia, Scariola, Amygdalus, Haloxylon, Salsola and others in which they cover 69.2, 6.1, 2.8, 3.5, 3.6, 14.8 persent of total vegetation types area. Increasing population in the country, is increased the stress on the natural resources as well as in this region by development of cultivation area and overgrazing. It is made in danger, the sustainability of production.
