Study of agronomic characteristics and grain yield of barley lines in preliminary trial in cold dry land area.

This experiment was conducted in Maragheh dryland agricultural research station for selecting better lines from yield trial nursery sent from Icarda (IBON -W، IBCB-W،IBON-HI ،IBYT-W، IBON-MAR ,IBON-IRAN-C وIBYT-MAR) , and selected F6 lines and observation nurseries during 2012-13. Totally 231 lines planted without replication as preliminary yield trial. Abidar and Yea. 168... replanted after each 9 lines as check. During growing season observations were recorded on sowing date, date of emergence, cold damage, diseases infection, days to heading, plant height and days to maturity. After harvesting, grain yield and 1000 kernel weight measured. Finally after comparing yield of lines with near check and according to desirable traits such as early maturity, cold resistance and acceptable plant height, 131 lines were selected. The selected lines will be studied next year.in regional advanced yield trials in cold dryland stations. Key words: rain fed barley, preliminary yield trial
