Egypt Wheat Miller Survey, 1997

The questionnaire was administered at 524 public and private sector wheat flour mills (91 of the 131 public mills, 25 or the 34 contracted private mills, 408 of the 4462 village mills) in 18 governorates from June to September, 1997, and covered the operations of the mills for the year 1996. Topics include the general characteristics of the mills; wheat purchases; flour production and sales; their marketing, transport and communication networks; operating costs; perceived profitability; assets; investment activities; and opinions on the role of government in regulating and setting policy in the wheat milling sector.
