The comparative study of Picea аbies empty and normal seeds carried out using microfocused X-Ray and gas discharge visualization methods. The obtained data indicate that the empty seeds investigated by gas discharge visualization method do not show gas discharge glow in contrast to the plump seeds. The empty seeds investigated by microfocused X-Ray method show lower level of brightness compared to plump ones. The results indicate that both microfocused X-Ray and gas discharge visualization methods can be applied as reliable tool for non-destructive testing of forest tree seeds quality.
