Photosynthetic apparatus of thermophile plants is rather sensitive to the influence of low temperatures, especially in night time. Therefore, research of the photosynthetic apparatus in the night period under the action of low temperature appears an important direction of the evaluation of the reaction of the plants on stress factors. The main goal of the presented research is comparative analysis of the activity of PS2 and pigment composition in transgenic tobacco plant's leaves. It is shown that the effect of low temperature stress in the light (+4 Celsius degree, 22h, 160 umol*m-2*s-1) does not change significantly the activity of PS2 and pigment content in the leaves of transgenic Fe-SOD and Mn-SOD tobacco plants compared to wild-type plants. In contrast, the low temperature stress in the dark in all studied tobacco plants leads to decreased functional activity of PS2. Comparative analysis of chlorophyll fluorescence parameters shows that the photosynthetic apparatus of Mn-SOD transformants and especially Fe-SOD transformants better adapt to the low temperature in the dark compared to non-transformed plants.
