In order to achieve new winter safflower lines with desirable traits and new genetic variations 11 safflower varieties and lines were planted in crossing blocks: at SPII. Some important characters were recorded in field ,during the growth period , such as : date of germination , date of bud formation date of flowering , date of maturity and no/heads per plant, no/seeds per head and height, .As a result red flower color is dominate to white color and also spiny is dominate to spinless . The highest head per plant was obtained from 4 and 5 cross number. The highest seed per head was obtained from 4 cross number
