Intensive vegetable cultivation requires improvement in the system of decision-making regarding a complex of agromeliorative, agrotehnical, and protective measures that must be developed considering the requirements of environmental protection in conditions of ever- changing climatic, economic, and institutional environment. The solution of the objectives of efficient management of the yield formation process is possible provided that the transition from purely experimental and empirical to quantitative, theoretical, and experimental methods based on the utilization of simulation crop productivity models and expert decision support systems is ensured. Finally, integration of theoretical knowledge on the production process can be considered as an effective instrument and a basis for the development of yield programming methods and optimization of the main factors of plant growth and development.
