Diversitatea parazitofaunei zimbrilor din rezervatia naturala Padurea domneasca si animalelor domestice din zona adiacenta | The species composition of parasites of the bisons in the Padurea domneasca natural reservation and domestic animals from the neighboring area

The paper presents data on the species composition of parasites of the bisons in the Padurea Domneasca natural reservation from the Republic of Moldova and the domestic animals pasturing in the neighboring area. The adult bisons have been found to be infested with six species of parasites (trematodes – 1, nematodes – 2, protists – 3): Fasciola hepatica, Strongyloides papillosus, Trichocephalus globulosa, Eimeria bovis, E.auburnensis and E.ellipsoidalis, and the young animals with four species (trematodes – 1, nematodes – 1, protists – 2): F.hepatica, S.papillosus, E.bovis, E.auburnensis. The cattle pasturing on the nearby territory was infested with five parasite species (trematodes – 1, nematodes – 1, protists – 3): F.hepatica, S.papillosus, E.bovis, E.zuernii, E.ellipsoidalis; sheep with five ones (cestodes – 1, trematodes – 1, nematodes – 1, protists – 2): Moniezia expansa, F.hepatica, S.papillosus, E.parva, E.faurei, and two nematode species have been registered in horses: Strongyloides westeri and Oxyuris equi. The analysis of the parasitological findings demonstrate that the identified parasitic agents can be divided into two groups: obligatory parasites for wild animals and common parasites for both wild and domestic animals. One obligatory species and five species common for both wild and domestic ruminants (cattle, sheep) were detected in the bisons. It is recommended to perform complex ecologic/biologic investigations in order to establish the epizootic chain maintaining bison infestation and re-infestation foci as well as to conduct parasitological examinations twice per year (February-March, October-November) and de-parasitation depending on the results.
