This paper reports the results concerning the quality parameters of the water from the springs registered as Natural Hydrological Monuments situated in the administrative territories of the Ocnita, Drochia and Donduseni districts. The evaluation of the chemical composition of the water from the springs investigated show that, based on the anions content, the water is a HCO3 SO4 type in all the cases. Based on the predominant cation, 80 percent of the samples correspond to the Ca-Mg-Na and Mg-Ca-Na type, while 20 percent to the Mg-Ca and Na-Mg type. The NO3 - concentration in the spring water studied (8 NHM) is under the admissible limit for portable water. The studies on the biological diversity in the NHM area show that Turdus pilaris has been registered in the Republic of Moldova as a nesting species for the first time, being just a wintering guest until now. The territory adjacent of the Izvorul Ocnita spring (proposed to be introduced as a State Protected Natural Areas (Natural Hydrological Monuments)) is the only habitat where Turdus pilaris is hatching. This territory is also populated by 35 species of insects, even one rare species of butterflies Callimorpha quadripunctaria (Arctiida Hera). Ecological Passports have been elaborated for all the eight NHM investigated.
