Food security of EEU and role of Russia in its providing

The goal of this article is investigating the problem of food security in member states of EE community, defining the way and the role of Eurasian community in implementing and increasing food security. The following methods of research were used: investigating the problems of member states of Eurasian economic community on the basis of economic analysis of scientific data results. The author also used statistical data processing and analysis of the Federal Customs Service of the Russian Federation and EE community committee. Investigating the role of member states of the Customs Union and the Unified Economic Area in providing the population of these countries with food, the uthor employed as the basis of research economic and mathematical methods of economic information analysis in accordance with the International Standard Trade classification. The results of this research show that Russia takes up the leading position in supplying member states of EE community with secure foodstuffs : livestock, grain and their by-products, fodder for animals and different produce and preparations. The State of Belarus specializes in supplying the population of member states of EE community with stockbreeding products, fish, sugar and honey. The State of Kazakhstan is in the lead supplying member states of EE community with nonfood raw materials. The problem of food security for the State of Kazakhstan is more acute than for other member states of Eurasian economic community. According to the FAO standards manufacturing products of vital importance in the states of the Customs Union and EE community amounts to 80% of the population annual demand for the foodstuffs. Products like grain, potatoes, sugar, vegetable oil meet physiological nutrition requirements of the population. Conclusion: further integration of states within EE community, diversification of agricultural production, the use of innovative agricultural technologies and measures of customs tariffs regulation, state control of agricultural produce will facilitate and increase food security in member states of Eurasian Economic Community.
