Effect of various brassica hybrids on parameters of development of cabbage moth Mamestra brassicae (L.) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) under laboratory conditions | Production of regenerated white cabbage plants (Brassica oleracea L.) from reproductive organs in vitro

Russian. Исследования по изучению биологических параметров капустной совки Mamestra brassicae (L.) были проведены в лаборатории на 6 различных кормовых источниках, включающих в себя 1 гибрид брокколи F1 Гераклион и 5 гибридов F1 белокочанной капусты Колобок, Орион, СБ-3, Казачок и Агрессор. Продолжительность развития капустной совки при t 24,1 град. С колебалась от 23,02 ± 0,61 сут. на гибриде Гераклион до 26,14 ± 0,96 сут. на гибриде Орион. Выживаемость гусениц находилась в пределах от 38% до 80%. Максимальная гибель вредителя была зафиксирована на гибриде Орион, минимальная - на СБ-3. Питание в репродуктивный период оказывало влияние и на соотношение полов в потомстве: в вариантах Колобок, Орион и Агрессор наблюдали увеличение доли самцов; в вариантах Гераклион, СБ-3 и Казачок была выше доля самок. Плодовитость самок варьировала от 513,7 ±218,13 (Агрессор) до 1151,6 ± 301,42 яиц (Гераклион). Таким образом, по биологическим параметрам капустной совки можно судить о степени устойчивости (восприимчивости) кормового источника для вредителя. По результатам вышеописанного опыта гибриды F1 Орион и Агрессор можно отнести к относительно устойчивым к капустной совке.

The development, survival and reproduction of cabbage moth, Mamestra brassiae (L.), were studied in a laboratory (at room indoor temperature and 16 : 8 hours photoperiodism) on six host plants, including one hybrid of the broccoli F1 Heraklion (Brassica oleracea L. var. italica) and 5 hybrids of the white cabbage F1 Kolobok, F4 Orion, F1 CB-3, F1 Kazachok and F1 Agressor (Brassica oleracea L. var. capitata). The developmental time of immature stages ranged from 23.02 ± 0.61 days on broccoli F1 Heraklion to 26.14 ± 0.96 days on white cabbage F1 Orion. The survival of larvae ranged from 38% to 80%. The highest and the lowest survival rates were registered on F1 Orion and CB-3, respectively. Nutrition at pupal stage had impact on the sex ratio in posterity: the increase in females was noted in the F1 Heraklion, F1 CB-3, F1 Kazachok, and in males - in F1 Kolobok, F1 Orion and F1 Agressor. The highest and the lowest female fecundity rates varied from 513.67±218.13 (F1 Agressor) to 1151.56±301.42 eggs (F1 Heraklion). Thus, one can study the degree of stability (susceptibility) of a feeding source for the pest by biological parameters of the cabbage moth. According to the results of the above described experiment the F1 Orion and F1 Agressor hybrids can be described as mostly resistant to cabbage moth.
