This study was conducted in order to determine the yield of herbage to be silaged and silage quality characteristics of different triticale cultivars (Tacettinbey, Ege yýldýzý, BDMT 06-5K, Karma, Tatlýcak-97, Mikham-2002, Focus, Melez-2001, Presto) grown under Menemen-Izmir ecological conditions between 2009-2011. Results indicated that significant differences in terms of plant height (91-124 cm), herbage yield for silage (2593-10424 kg/da), dry matter yields (975-2985 kg/da), number of maturity days for silage (128-173 d), silage loss (0.353%-2.312%), contents of lactic acid (1.25-1.93%) and acetic acid (0.40-0.60%), crude protein (8.8-10.8%) and silage pH (4.43-5.35) were determined among tested triticale cultivars. It was also determined that cultivar of triticale Ege yýldýzý, Tacettinbey or Tatlýcak-97 should be preferred for earliness and high herbage yields for silage and silage quality depending on the seed prices.

Erkencilik, yüksek silajlýk hasýl verimi ve silaj kalite özellikleri birlikte deðerlendirildiðinde; Ege yýldýzý, Tacettinbey veya Tatlýcak-97 çeþitlerinden birinin tohumluk fiyatlarýna göre tercih edilebileceði kanaatine varýlmýþtýr.
