A collection of species of the genus Paeonia L. in the Central Botanical Garden of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus

В статье представлены результаты интродукции видов рода Paeonia в Беларуси, приведены сведения о морфологических признаках и декоративных качествах растений пионов, особенностях их сезонного ритма роста и развития, репродуктивной биологии. Изучение видовых пионов Центрального ботанического сада НАНБ показало, что в новых условиях произрастания они характеризуются высокой жизнеспособностью, проходят все этапы онтогенетического развития, плодоносят, образуют жизнеспособные семена. Видовые пионы отличаются высокой декоративностью благодаря красивой форме листьев и необычной окраске цветков. Многие из них можно использовать для озеленения, а также выращивать на садовых участках. Они довольно неприхотливы, морозоустойчивы, хорошо переносят полутень. В результате наблюдений выявлены наиболее устойчивые к нашим условиям и декоративные виды пионов: Paeonia anomala, Paeonia mlokosewitschii, Paeonia tenuifolia, Paeonia wittmanniana.

English. Paeonia appear valuable ornamental perennials, widely used in green building in urban landscape design. The most popular are specific peony with bright flowers and of irregular shape. The main goal of the research appears evaluation of the biological peculiarities of specific peony in the conditions of the Republic of Belarus for the formation of the plant collection and selection of the most advantageous species for wide cultivation and selective work. The article provides information about the morphological characteristics and decorative qualities of some species of the genus Paeonia L., analyzes features and seasonal rhythm of their growth and development, evaluates reproductive biology of the plants. 7 species of the Paeonia genus have been selected. The research has been carried during 2007-2014 in laboratory of introduction and selection of ornamental plants of the Central Botanical Garden of the Republic of Belarus. The following conclusions have been made: Paeonia species are noticed with high viability, good reproductive performance and high ornamental qualities. The plants possess good cold-resistance and appear suitable for the introduction for green building in the conditions of the Republic of Belarus.
