In a course of the research there was studied the determination of dry matter content in plants of cereal crops using near infrared spectroscopy. The research was realized in the Republic of Belarus. The predictive models of dry matter content in plants of cereal crops were designed by near infrared spectra using the modified partial least square method. On the basis of calibration characteristics and the results of their testing, the following conclusion could be made: the near infrared spectroscopy could be used for the determination of dry matter content in plants of cereal crops for the period from tillering to heading the monitoring of physiological status and development of plants, as well as in determining the dynamics of formation of productivity. Analysis of the samples immediately after collection to avoid drying and weighing procedures provided by the gravimetric method, and thus significantly decreased the analysis time.
