Russian.

The effect of the season of explants’ selection of evergreen and deciduous species of Rhododendrons on their viability in a sterile culture has been presented in the article. Two deciduous and five evergreen species of Rhododendrons have been analyzed. The sprouts isolated in different seasons have been used for the experiment. The best time of the year for the selection of explants of two deciduous and five evergreen species of Rhododendron has been determined. The highest level of viability of explants is noticed in March-April and May-June for evergreen species, the lowest - in November – December. Deciduous species are noticed with the lowest level of viable explants in May – June and July – August (50-40% correspondingly) in comparison with other months (January – February – 85%, March – April – 95%, September – October – 60%, November – December – 70%). Variability of the periods of maximal viability of explants is determined with the content of phenolic growth inhibitors, auxins and cytokins in Rhododendron plants.
